The committee

The Hans Christian Andersen Literature Award Committee

Members of the Award Committee use their life-long familiarity with the works of H.C. Andersen to identify a short list of authors whose work embodies the qualities of fantasy and myth exemplified by Andersen’s works. The organization cooperates with the literature faculty of Southern Danish University (SDU). The SDU Advisory Board nominates suitable authors to the Hans Christian Andersen Literature Award. The final selection is made through careful deliberation, ensuring that the chosen authors reflect Andersen’s literary legacy and thematic richness. This rigorous process aims to honor and perpetuate the spirit of Andersen's imaginative and transformative storytelling.

You can read more about the members below and learn about their background, careers, and why it is important to them to be a part of the Hans Christian Andersen Award. Their diverse experiences and shared dedication to Andersen's legacy contribute to a rich and nuanced selection process.
